The Morgan Silver dollar is a large silver coin known for its value, quality of strike, design, and beauty. The Morgan is historically important as part of the economics of America’s move westward towards the end of the 19th Century. Because of its widespread use during that era and after, it is the most common of all 19th-century U.S. coins.
The coins take their name from their designer, British engraver, George T. Morgan. They are 90% silver and contain .7734 troy ounces of pure silver.
- Obverse: Lady Liberty, the inscription ‘E Pluribus Unum’ and the minting date. Reverse: An eagle carrying an olive branch with a set of arrows in its talons, the words ‘In God We Trust’ and face value.
