An official gold bullion coin of the United States, the Gold American Buffalo was first authorized under the Presidential $1 coin act of 2005 and officially released in 2006. These coins were created by the U.S. Mint to compete with other 24-karat gold bullion products produced by other mints.
As the newest gold bullion product of the U.S., the Buffalo has a face value of $50 USD and is .9999 fine gold.
